Sasha & Greg's love story is proof that love can be found in the most unlikeliest of places and when you least expect it, but all it takes is that single spark to ignite. Case in point, their first significant meeting took place in the gym, where they were both regulars and would frequently work out. As it happens, one fine day, there was Sasha vigorously performing sit-ups and not looking to be distracted. Greg, on the other hand, was looking to distract himself by talking to a friend, when he decided to approach the object of his desire, umm, distraction, and finally broke the ice as he approached Sasha. He asked her casually what she was doing for the weekend, when in actuality, what he really wanted to ask her was what was she doing for the rest of her life and could she envision him in those very plans, while simultaneously needing to know, seriously, where had she been hiding for all of his life?!
Sasha being the 'take no-nonsense sorta girl' aptly and quickly responded with a curt answer, 'I'm going to New York." Well, that was the end of that conversation! It seemed she was completely disinterested. Talk about being shot through the heart, but as it often occurs, as in all great romances, they ran into each other once again at the gym, but this time Sasha decided to give the conversation a second chance and would follow the beat of her heart. If the total truth is to be told, the unspoken chemistry between them was palpable and undeniable from that very first glance, as it will be to the end.
As they famously say, " When love feels like magic, you call it destiny. When destiny has a sense of humor, you call it serendipity." So there you have it, one unexpected meeting, two strangers and two lives unforgettably changed, leaving first an indelible mark in both our minds, then touching our hearts, turning this story into an all-consuming, powerful love that is both indestructible and unfading. The rest is not history (as in his-story or her-story), but will continue to be forever our story.
For our best friends, the following poem is meant for you. It's a lengthy one, indeed, but it rings true. Sasha & I wanted to thank each of you for being a part of our unique journey and for your friendship, which gives us true strength and sustenance for our souls.
A Golden Chain by Helen Steiner Rice
Friendship is a Golden Chain,
The links are friends
so dear,
And like a rare and
precious jewel
It's treasured more each year...
It's clasped together
firmly
With a love that's deep and true,
And it's rich with
happy memories
And fond
recollections, too...
Time can't destroy
its beauty
For, as long as
memory lives,
Years can't erase the
pleasure
That the joy of
friendship gives...
For friendship is a
priceless gift
That can't be bought
or sold,
But to have an
understanding friend
is worth far more
than gold...
And the Golden
Chain of friendship
is a strong and
blessed tie
Binding kindred
hearts together
As the years go
passing by.
Greg & I went on a very romantic trip this past summer to London & Paris. On the 10th day of our vacation, Greg brought me to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica for us to take in the great, panoramic views over Paris. The weather was picture perfect, adding a certain ambience and serenity to the day. The historic pristine, white, marble Church and the surrounding views were magnificent, completely breathtaking. Amidst the wonderful artisan shops and restaurants, we continued to explore the grandeur in front of us, walking hand in hand through the basilica. We were finally standing on the majestic front steps, and that's when I saw Greg reaching into his bag, fumbling at first, until he firmly got hold of something. I was puzzled and totally unaware of what was going to happen next. I swear! Suddenly, he proceeded to get down on his one knee to ask me to be his wife. He stole my breath away! Stunned, I said, "YES!" while my whole being screamed, "Absolutely!" Life with Greg is definitely filled with many sweet surprises and he continues to take my breath away, everyday. The day he proposed will forever be engraved in my heart, etched deep in my memory, as one of the most beautiful, magical, and unforgettable moments in my life.
